Aguakan says water service is back after Kusamil II works; what to do if pressure is still low

The tie-in affected dozens of Cancún supermanzanas, Playa Mujeres, Punta Sam and Isla Mujeres; the utility says supply is now normal.

Water utility Aguakan said drinking water service has been restored in the Cancún neighborhoods affected by the tie-in works on the supply line serving the Kusamil II development, carried out on Tuesday, October 6.

According to the company's official statement, the work wrapped up around 10:00 p.m. on October 6 and service resumed that same night. Aguakan said pressure and flow would gradually return to full levels over the following 24 hours.

Areas included in the notice

In its earlier notice, Aguakan warned of possible low pressure or interruptions in Cancún supermanzanas 90, 104–107, 206–218, 222–240, 245–250, 253, 260, 313–327, 332–336 and 500–529, as well as Playa Mujeres, the Punta Sam condominiums and Isla Mujeres.

The utility explained that recovery happens in stages: storage tanks are refilled first, and then water is sent out through the city's distribution centers, so service does not return to every area at the same time. It added that its technical staff is monitoring wells, tanks and equipment.

If pressure at your home remains low or the water is cloudy several days after the works, it's worth filing a report so there is a record:

When reporting, have your account number (printed on your bill) and your supermanzana handy so the report reaches the right area.

After an outage, it's also a good idea to let the tap run for a few seconds if water comes out with air or looks cloudy, and to check that your rooftop tank or cistern float valve works properly so you can take advantage of the refill when pressure returns.
