State Civil Protection forecasts a heat index of 37 °C, coastal wind gusts and waves up to 6 feet; no tropical cyclones are active in the Caribbean.
Cancún and the rest of Quintana Roo can expect a hot Thursday, October 29, with increasing clouds, rain and intermittent showers, according to the weather bulletin issued by the State Civil Protection Coordination (COEPROC), valid from 6:00 a.m. Thursday to 6:00 a.m. Friday, October 30.
The agency said moisture flowing in from the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico will keep skies partly cloudy in the morning, with cloud cover building through the day. Rainfall totals of 5 to 25 millimeters are forecast across the state.

What to do
COEPROC advises avoiding prolonged sun exposure, staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, sunscreen and sunglasses, and taking extra care in marine activities due to wind and waves.
A few practical steps for Cancún residents and visitors:
- If there is lightning, get out of the water and off the beach and take shelter indoors; avoid standing under trees or near utility poles.
- Swimmers and boat operators: check each beach's flag system and the tide times before going in.
- When driving in showers, slow down and avoid crossing flooded streets; standing water can hide potholes and open drains.
- Long weekend: with outdoor Day of the Dead events starting Friday, October 30, check COEPROC's updated bulletin before heading out, since this forecast expires at 6:00 a.m. that day.
- In any emergency, call 911.
COEPROC publishes its bulletin daily on its official website, along with notices on tropical systems and cold fronts.
