City Hall is allocating 100 million pesos across 10 zones; the next workshop is Nov. 4 in Colonia Lombardo.

Cancún residents have until November 13, 2026 to submit proposals for public works and improvements in their neighborhoods under the 2027 Participatory Budget, a 100-million-peso fund split across 10 city zones, the Benito Juárez City Council announced through its Municipal Welfare Department.

The city held the first of ten co-creation workshops on Tuesday, October 27, at the Supermanzana 95 dome (Zone 1), where residents developed ideas alongside staff from IMPLAN, Urban Development, Public Safety and Traffic, Municipal Property, and Transportation and Roads. This is the program's fourth edition.

What can be proposed?

According to City Hall, proposals may focus on:

  • Public services
  • Reclaiming public spaces
  • Rural and urban infrastructure
  • Public works
  • Sustainable mobility
  • Environment
  • Strengthening public safety

The city describes the program as a "public, objective, transparent and auditable" mechanism that lets residents decide which priority works get built.

Official timeline

Stage Dates
Proposal registration Oct. 19 – Nov. 13, 2026
Feasibility review Nov. 18 – Dec. 8, 2026
Online voting Dec. 10, 2026 – Jan. 14, 2027
In-person voting Jan. 15, 2027

Proposals can be submitted online or in person. For Zone 1, City Hall required an official photo ID showing an address in one of the participating supermanzanas (37–51, 53, 55, 56, 58, 59, 95–99 and 500–529).

Next workshop: Zone 5

The next workshop is on November 4 in Colonia Lombardo (Zone 5) for residents of supermanzanas 65, 68, 74–78, 83–86, 89 and 236–243.

Making the most of it

  • Organize with your neighbors before the workshop: a proposal backed by several residents and tied to a clearly identified problem (a street, park or street lights) is easier to champion at the voting stage.
  • Be specific: pinpoint the exact location, take photos and estimate how many people would benefit.
  • Bring an INE voter ID with your current address, since the zone you participate in depends on your supermanzana.
  • Confirm your zone and workshop dates on the Participatory Budget platform at cancun.gob.mx or by calling City Hall at (998) 881 28 00.
