Ford and Lincoln recall 6,558 vehicles in Mexico over backup cameras and Bronco rear shocks

Repairs are free, Profeco says. Here are the models involved, how to check whether your vehicle is affected and whom to call.

Parked Ford Bronco SUV

Ford Motor Company has launched a recall of 6,558 Ford and Lincoln vehicles sold in Mexico over two separate defects, Mexico's Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) announced on October 2, 2026. Repairs are free of charge and the recall has no end date.

Recall 1: backup camera (2,569 units)

According to Profeco, an infotainment software error can reset backup camera settings and cause the camera to display a blank screen intermittently. The fix is a software update.

Affected models from 2019 to 2024 are: Fusion, MKZ, Edge, Bronco Sport, Escape, Corsair, Continental, F-150/Lobo, Super Duty, Mustang, Nautilus, Expedition, Navigator, Aviator, Explorer and Transit. Not every unit of these models is affected; eligibility is checked by serial number.

Recall 2: Bronco rear shock absorbers (3,989 units)

On the 2021-2024 Bronco, Profeco reports that rear shock absorbers can corrode. Symptoms include bouncing, noise and fluid leaks near the rear wheels. The stated risk is that external parts of the shock can detach from the vehicle and endanger other drivers. The remedy is to repair or replace the affected parts.

How to check your vehicle

  • Ford: look up your VIN at ford.mx under Mi Ford / Llamado a revisión, or call 800 713 8466.
  • Lincoln: check lincoln.mx under Mi Lincoln / Llamado a revisión, or call 800 005 4626.
  • Customer service email for both brands: atnclien@ford.com.

The 17-character VIN appears on your registration card, your invoice and a plate visible at the base of the windshield on the driver's side.

Why it matters in Cancún

In a city with heavy rain and salty sea air, corrosion of suspension parts is wear worth watching; if you drive a Bronco and notice bouncing, noise or fluid spots under the rear, book the inspection soon. The backup camera matters in crowded mall parking lots and poorly lit streets.

If the dealer won't help

Recall repairs must not be charged. If a dealer asks you to pay or won't schedule you, file a complaint with Profeco at 55 5568 8722 or 800 468 8722. Used-car buyers are covered too: the recall follows the vehicle, not the original owner.
