Rita Cetina scholarship: primary and secondary registration open until Nov. 6; how to apply online
Mexico's Education Ministry opened sign-ups Oct. 26. Secondary students get 1,900 pesos every two months; primary students receive a 2,500-peso yearly payment for supplies and uniforms.
Families with children in Mexican public primary and secondary schools have from Oct. 26 to Nov. 6, 2026 to register them for the Rita Cetina scholarship, the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) announced. Registration is online at www.becaritacetina.gob.mx.
According to SEP's bulletin 353, the call is open to families of students at 202,188 public primary and secondary schools nationwide. Education Secretary Mario Delgado urged parents and guardians to complete the process online within that period. National Welfare Scholarships Coordinator Julio León Trujillo also took part in the announcement.
How much it pays
According to SEP:
- Secondary: 1,900 pesos every two months per family with one student, plus 700 pesos every two months for each additional secondary student in the same family.
- Primary (grades 1–6): a single yearly payment of 2,500 pesos for uniforms and school supplies.
The ministry said the program currently covers 14.96 million students, including 6.69 million who receive the primary school supplies payment.
What you need
SEP listed these requirements:
- Certified CURP (population registry ID) for the parent or guardian and for each student.
- Email address.
- Cell phone number.
- A Llave MX account, created before you start.
Practical guide for Cancún families
- Set up Llave MX first. You cannot get into the platform without it. Create it with your CURP, email and phone, and save your password.
- Make sure the CURPs are certified. You can look them up and download them free at gob.mx/curp. If any detail doesn't match the birth certificate, fix it before registering your children so the application doesn't stall.
- Have the school's details handy. The report card or the school office can give you the school's work-center code (CCT).
- Don't wait until the last day. The deadline is Friday, Nov. 6, for the whole country, so the site may slow down in the final hours.
- Watch out for scams. Register only on the official address ending in .gob.mx. Be wary of websites, social media accounts or people who ask for money or your passwords to register for you.
If you don't have a computer, you can register by phone or ask at your children's school about the information meeting SEP is holding to walk families through the process.
