Teletón 2026 kicks off in Cancún: 120.8 million pesos raised toward a goal of nearly 427 million
City and state officials joined the campaign at the CRIT Quintana Roo center and urged families, businesses and schools to take part.
Benito Juárez city hall joined the Teletón 2026 campaign on Saturday, October 11. The national fundraiser supports care for children and adolescents with disabilities, autistic people and their families, and the event took place at the Teletón Children's Rehabilitation and Inclusion Center of Quintana Roo (CRIT QR) in Cancún, the city government said.
The numbers
According to city hall, this year's national goal is 426,987,716 pesos "plus one", and at the time of the event the drive had raised 120,831,624 pesos, or roughly 28% of the target. The 2026 slogan is "Te Quiero Teletón" ("I Love You, Teletón").
Who took part
Marisol Sendo Rodríguez, director general of the Benito Juárez DIF family services agency, attended on behalf of Mayor Ana Paty Peralta. Also present were Paolo Montero Jaque, director of CRIT Quintana Roo; Verónica Lezama Espinosa, honorary president of the Quintana Roo DIF; and Flavio Carlos Rosado, state health secretary, according to the city's statement.
Officials invited families, businesses, schools, civic organizations and the general public to support the campaign as they are able and to spread the word in their communities.
Why it matters in Cancún
CRIT Quintana Roo is located in Cancún, so funds from the national campaign support a rehabilitation center that serves children from across the state without them having to travel elsewhere. For many families in the region, it is one of the few specialized options for pediatric therapy and inclusion.
How to help or get guidance
- Donate: use the campaign's official channels on the Fundación Teletón website (teleton.org) and be wary of unauthorized collections or messages asking for transfers to personal accounts.
- Share: spreading official campaign information also counts as support, officials said.
- Guidance on support for people with disabilities: the Benito Juárez DIF serves the public at City Hall, Avenida Tulum No. 5, Supermanzana 5, and by phone at (998) 881 2800.
The same day, the municipal DIF held the "Mi futuro, mi decisión" (My future, my decision) activity circuit at Carlos Fuentes Macías elementary school for the International Day of the Girl, with exercises on girls' rights and their role in decisions about their future.
