SAT reports nearly 3 trillion pesos collected in first half and over 17 million taxpayer services

Mexico's tax authority chief said revenue through June approached 3 trillion pesos and that the Mobile Office program has visited around 400 municipalities so far in 2026.

Mexico's Tax Administration Service (SAT) reported that federal revenue collected during the first half of 2026 came in at roughly 3 trillion pesos. The announcement was made by SAT head Antonio Martínez Dagnino during the agency's 29th anniversary event, reported on July 14.

According to the official information, more than 17 million taxpayer services were provided between January and June, both at physical offices and through digital channels. The SAT's Mobile Office program, which brings basic procedures to communities without a permanent module, visited close to 400 municipalities during that period.

SAT is the federal body responsible for collecting income tax (ISR), value-added tax (IVA) and the special production and services tax (IEPS), among others. A breakdown by tax type was not shared in this update.

What it means for people handling paperwork in Cancun

Quintana Roo concentrates much of its tax activity in tourism, commerce and professional services. For freelancers, digital platform workers and small businesses in the destination, SAT is the mandatory counter for RFC registration, invoicing and the annual return.

In-person procedures require an appointment booked through the official portal. The most-requested services locally include the Tax Status Certificate, data updates, the electronic signature (e.firma) and refund requests.

How to book and verify

  • Official portal: sat.gob.mx. The "Citas" section lets users book a time at any office nationwide.
  • MarcaSAT hotline: 55 627 22 728, available on business days.
  • Online chat: available inside the portal for frequently asked procedure questions.
  • Mobile Office: the monthly municipal visit schedule is posted on SAT's own portal under the itinerant unit section.

Before going, download the checklist for the specific procedure and verify that ID and proof-of-address documents are current, since a missing item usually forces rescheduling.
