Cancún's Day of the Dead festival, Janal Pixan 2026, will take place from October 30 to November 2 in Puerto Juárez, and Benito Juárez City Hall expects about 200,000 visitors, up from roughly 140,000 last year, according to the municipal government.

Getting there
The city will provide free transportation to Puerto Juárez from Malecón Tajamar and El Crucero, starting at 5:00 p.m.
With crowds of that size expected, plan ahead:
- Take the free shuttle rather than driving; parking in Puerto Juárez is limited.
- If you want to see the 4:30 p.m. sea procession, arrive early; free shuttles start at 5:00 p.m.
- Bring water, cash for the food pavilion and rain gear, since rain continues in Cancún this time of year.
- Agree on a meeting point with your family in case you get separated.
- If you live in Puerto Juárez or use the area to reach Isla Mujeres, allow extra travel time on those days.
Janal Pixan ("food of the souls" in Maya) is the Yucatán Peninsula's Day of the Dead tradition, and the Puerto Juárez festival has become one of the busiest public events on the city's calendar.
