The federal Public Charity's second delivery in Quintana Roo tops 4 million pesos and reaches six municipalities, including Benito Juárez.

Wheelchairs and hearing aids handed out at DIF Quintana Roo in Cancún

People with mobility impairments, hearing loss and women who survived breast cancer received hearing aids, wheelchairs, external breast prostheses and other assistive devices on October 20, 2026 at the DIF Quintana Roo North Zone facility in Cancún, the Benito Juárez city government reported.

It was the second delivery in the state by the federal Public Charity Assets Administration (Beneficencia Pública), whose head, José Alfredo Cordero Esquivel, led the event with Governor Mara Lezama, Mayor Ana Paty Peralta and state DIF honorary president Verónica Lezama Espinosa. According to the city, the federal investment exceeds 4 million pesos.

What was delivered

According to the official release:

  • 360 hearing aids
  • 169 wheelchairs
  • 98 post-mastectomy bras
  • 65 assistive devices
  • 49 external breast prostheses
  • 5 anti-pressure gel cushions
  • 1 ADHEAR hearing device and 1 special hearing aid

Three audiometry units for hearing diagnostics were also handed over.

Recipients live in Benito Juárez, Lázaro Cárdenas, Solidaridad (Playa del Carmen), Tulum, Isla Mujeres and Puerto Morelos.

Why it matters

A hearing aid or wheelchair can be a hard expense for many families. Audiometry equipment makes it possible to diagnose hearing loss, a necessary step before someone can be fitted with the right device.

How to seek support

The release does not list requirements or a call for applications for future deliveries. If you or a relative need an assistive device:

  • Visit DIF Quintana Roo North Zone in Cancún or the Benito Juárez municipal DIF and ask whether a registry is open for upcoming deliveries.
  • As a reference, bring ID, CURP, proof of address and, if possible, a medical diagnosis or prescription stating the device you need; confirm the exact list at the counter.
  • Public charity support is free: no one should charge you to sign up.
