Quintana Roo delivers $18 million pesos in farm equipment to 73 producers in the state's south
SEDARPE supported 59 men and 14 women from Othon P. Blanco, Jose Maria Morelos, Bacalar, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Lazaro Cardenas through a 50/50 co-investment scheme.
Chetumal, Quintana Roo. The Secretariat of Agricultural, Rural and Fisheries Development (SEDARPE) on Thursday handed over farm machinery and tools worth 18.18 million pesos to 73 producers — 59 men and 14 women — from five municipalities in the south and center of the state, as part of the Nuevo Acuerdo por el Bienestar y Desarrollo de Quintana Roo program.
The package included tractors, seed drills, harrows, fertilizer spreaders, brush cutters, tillers, spraying drones, silo units, 3- and 6-ton trailers, mulching machines and pallet jacks. Beneficiaries come from Othon P. Blanco, Jose Maria Morelos, Bacalar, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Lazaro Cardenas, SEDARPE said.
How it is funded. The support works on a co-investment scheme: the state government covers 50 percent of the cost and the producer covers the other half. The ceiling is up to 250,000 pesos for heavy machinery — 36 beneficiaries in this round — and up to 100,000 pesos for implements — 37 people.
SEDARPE head Jorge Aguilar Osorio delivered the equipment together with Government Secretary Cristina Torres Gomez and Anti-Corruption and Good Governance Secretary Reyna Arceo Rosado, representing Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa.
What it means for the north. Even though this round's beneficiaries are from the south and center, SEDARPE also has service windows for producers from the north of the state — including ejidos and rural cooperatives in Benito Juarez, Isla Mujeres and Puerto Morelos — where vegetables, citrus and beekeeping dominate. Anyone interested in upcoming calls should reach out to the regional offices of the ministry or the municipal agricultural liaison.
General requirements. While the state did not publish a specific checklist in this announcement, such programs usually require being registered in the producer database, holding an active production unit and providing the co-payment before receiving the equipment.
