Aurora Park in Cancún's SM 44 gets new lighting
The city installed three floodlights and four street lamps, and added pruning, cleanup and fogging in the same operation.
The Benito Juárez city government said it has renewed the lighting at Aurora Park, in Cancún's Supermanzana 44, installing three floodlights and four street lamps.
According to municipal information, the work was carried out by the General Directorate of Public Services, in coordination with the company Óptima Energía, and went beyond lighting: the same operation included tree pruning, removal of yard waste and fogging.
What changes for residents
The floodlights and lamps aim to bring the park back into use after dark. The fogging targets mosquito populations, while pruning and yard-waste removal help prevent the buildup of debris that can become a breeding ground.
The Acting Head of the Municipal Presidency, Landy Guadalupe Canché Pantoja, toured the area and, according to the statement, "held a close dialogue with residents, who shared their main concerns and proposals to keep improving their surroundings."
What the statement does not say
The city did not specify whether the Aurora Park work is part of a broader public-lighting program, nor how many parks or blocks it would cover.
It also did not provide a phone number, an app or a specific office for residents to report a burned-out street light or request lighting in other public spaces.
