Cancun Municipal Traffic launches smart driving courses for the summer
Benito Juarez's city hall announced seven safe-driving courses to prepare drivers in the middle of the vacation season.
The Benito Juarez city hall, through its Municipal Traffic Department, announced it will offer seven smart driving courses focused on the summer vacation season, according to a bulletin published on July 11 on the municipality's communications portal.
The stated goal is to strengthen road culture during a period when local traffic increases due to school holidays and incoming visitors —a mix that usually translates into more incidents on high-traffic avenues such as Tulum, Bonampak, Kabah, Jose Lopez Portillo and Kukulcan Boulevard itself.
What the courses aim to do
While the municipal bulletin did not publish complete dates and venues for every session, it made clear that the courses are aimed at private-vehicle drivers and public-transport operators, with modules on defensive driving, distractions behind the wheel and respect for pedestrians and cyclists.
How to get official information
The right channel to confirm venue, schedule and enrollment is directly with Benito Juarez's Municipal Traffic Department. Recommended steps for anyone interested:
- Check the official site
cancun.gob.mxand the city hall's verified social media accounts. - Go to the Municipal Traffic offices to ask for the updated calendar.
- Ask if your employer —a hotel, airline or tour operator— can request a group course for staff before the vacation peak.
Why it matters in Cancun
Benito Juarez is among Quintana Roo's municipalities with the most road incidents, according to annual mortality and crash reports. Programs like this are part of the preventive actions the city usually rolls out before high seasons to reduce risks on urban streets and on federal highway 307.
