Upper-level trough brings scattered rain and a 40°C heat index to Cancun this July 12
Civil Protection forecasts 5 to 25 mm of rain, highs up to 37°C and waves of up to 2 meters along northern Quintana Roo.
An upper-level trough sitting over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula, combined with moisture flowing in from the Caribbean Sea, will bring scattered rain and showers to Cancun and northern Quintana Roo this Saturday, July 12, with estimated accumulations of 5 to 25 millimeters, according to the state Civil Protection agency (COEPROC).
The bulletin, valid from 6:00 a.m. on July 12 to 6:00 a.m. on July 13, forecasts partly cloudy skies with increasing cloud cover for Benito Juárez, highs of 35 to 37°C, morning lows of 25 to 27°C, and a heat index that may reach 40°C. Winds will blow from the east at 15 to 25 km/h with stronger gusts.
Along the coast, waves will run 1.0 to 2.0 meters high, and 4 to 7 feet in the Yucatan Channel, with sea temperatures of 28 to 29°C.
