Up to 100% off property tax fines: how Cancún's Día del Pueblo works and when the next session is

The city's traveling program bundles more than 130 procedures and free services; property tax discounts run through September 30, and the next session is July 23 at City Hall.

Residents complete municipal paperwork at the Día del Pueblo service fair in Cancún

Benito Juárez's municipal government brought its "Día del Pueblo" service fair to the José María Morelos dome in Supermanzana 71 on July 16, letting residents handle more than 130 municipal procedures and services in a single stop. The next edition is set for Thursday, July 23 at City Hall (Palacio Municipal), with service until 3:00 p.m.

The biggest draw for household budgets is the property tax (predial) benefits package, valid through September 30, according to the city:

  • 50% off surcharges.
  • 100% off fines.
  • The option to catch up by paying only the last five years owed.

The fair also offers construction regularization paperwork and free services such as medical checkups, vaccinations, pet deworming, haircuts and a job board.

What to bring

For property tax matters, bring official ID and your cadastral number (printed on any previous bill) or the property's exact address. If the property is under someone else's name, bring a document showing your connection to it. For construction regularization, blueprints or a sketch help; municipal staff guide each case individually.

Why it pays to catch up now

Settling your predial does more than stop the debt from growing with surcharges: proof of payment is routinely required for transactions such as property sales, wills, inheritance proceedings and service contracts. And anyone who pays within the benefits window settles a fraction of what they would pay later, since fines are waived entirely.

If you miss the July 23 session, the municipal Treasury windows at City Hall apply the same discounts on business days while the program remains in effect.
